Toothache can be one of the most painful conditions the human body can experience.There can be various reasons why we suffer toothache.  Tooth decay is normally a primary reason for the pain, but things like abscesses or infection can also cause the soreness.  Or maybe cracked teeth or broken fillings can be the culprit.

• Rinse your mouth with warm salt water.  Salt is cleansing and can help with infection, although it is not recommended that children do this.
• A warm or cool compress applied to the jaw can help soothe the pain.
• Refrain from eating sweet foods.  Also it's a good idea not to take drinks that are too hot or cold.
• Eat only soft foods that don't need excessive chewing.
• Painkillers are helpful, such as Paracetamol.
• Refrain from smoking.
