Boost Your Immunity with CBD

It doesn't matter what season of the year we are in, boosting your immune system is good practice all year round.

We tend to think that the winter months are the right time to concentrate on our immunity, but really any time is good.  Ideally it should be an ongoing practice.  Although, in the winter months is when we tend to suffer physically and develop anything from the common cold to full blown flu symptoms.  We also now have the added concern that we are living in a pandemic with Covid 19 globally.

More than ever people are focusing on health and wellbeing, and are trying to achieve optimum health and stronger immunity.

The age-old advice of prevention is better than cure is definitely relevant in this case, and a wise attitude to adopt.

So what can we do to elevate our vital immune system?

Before we start buying pills and potions, the first thing to do would be to look at our personal diet.  What we put into our mouths can have both positive and negative effects on the physical body, and the way in which it functions.  Surprisingly too, what we eat can also affect our mental ability.

Years of research and investigation into nutrition can now tell us what's good for us and what's no so good.  The leg work has been done, all you have to do is search for it.

There are so many vital nutrients packed into what we can consume, but it does come down to personal choice and preference.

Many factors can dictate our diet.  It is important to adopt a healthy diet from infancy.  We rely on our mother/father/guardian to supply a nutritionally balanced diet.  Sometimes, however, we are given foods that are affordable, preferred by the person who feeds us, or are convenient.  Priorities differ in many ways.

Our diet can even be determined by where we live.  It is universally known that the Mediterranean diet is one of the healthiest diets to follow.  Longevity is common in those countries which follow this eating pattern.

Anyone following a Mediterranean diet can expect exceptionally good general health.  It can not only help with weight loss, but can also lessen the likelihood of diabetes, heart attacks and many other ailments.

When we are old enough to express our taste preference, this is where long term patterns of nutrition develop.

Many factors can put us off foods such as the smell or the way it has been cooked.  A bad experience with a certain food can put us off for life, which is unfortunate, especially if it is something so beneficial to our wellbeing.

Once diet is at an optimum level where we are consuming a balance of goodness, then we can look at additional vitamins and minerals to boost our immune systems and ensure we do our best for our body.

Vitamins and minerals are a massive industry with billions of supplements being sold and consumed daily.

How you determine what you need in the way of added supplements depends on your own body.  Deficiency in certain vitamins or minerals will show on or in the body physically.

However, if you are getting enough support from diet alone, vitamins won't be needed to boost your immunity.

Another very important factor is sleep.  It is widely underestimated, yet a good nights sleep is extremely important.  It's not just the hours we sleep, it is the quality of the sleep we have.  Poor diet and eating too late in the day can affect sleep massively.  Remember our body repairs itself while we are asleep.  If it cannot do this perfectly natural function because we lack sleep, the first thing to suffer is our immune system.  Lack of sleep will weaken immunity, so try to get at least 8 hours per night.

Alternative therapies and supplements are also very beneficial to health and immunity.

Body massage is a great way to relax and it also helps remove toxins and free radicals present in our bodies.

One supplement that has taken the world by storm in recent years is CBD (cannabidiol).  CBD is derived from the hemp plant and is cultivated globally.

Extensive research and development has been carried out with CBD and its healing properties.  It cannot be denied that it is a powerful remedy for many illnesses and ailments.

It is available in flower form or oil.  The flowers can be added into food and drink conveniently. They can also be smoked without harmful tobacco.  CBD hemp flower can be consumed in it's natural state, or it can be experienced in many flavours which are readily available.

CBD oil is very versatile.  It is usually dispensed from a dropper.  A couple of drops under the tongue ensures it enters the bloodstream quickly.  It is a very effective way to alleviate pain, and the popularity of this supplement has rocketed in recent years.

CBD oil usually contains <0.2% THC (tetrahydrocannabinol), (in some countries <0.3% is acceptable), this is the compound that gives the feeling of being high, so it is non-psychoactive.

CBD oil can also be added into food or drink.  There are different strengths available, but a couple of drops will give encouraging results.

It is recommended that newcomers to the CBD supplement start with a couple of drops, then increase the dosage as necessary.

CBD is safe to use and is non-addictive.  It is also governed by EU Regulations and Guidelines, which no doubt gives the consumer confidence.
